2. Exercise to create an analysis of Google search trends
3. Open Tableau by clicking the application icon on the desktop
4. Connect to data by clicking “Text file”
5. Select google_searches csv file from the desktop
6. Click “Sheet 1” to begin analysing
7. Select the Date pill and drag it to the Columns shelf
8. 1. Click the down arrow on the right of the Year (Date) pill 2. Select Month
9. Drag “Hits” to the Rows shelf
10. 1. Click the down arrow on the right of the Sum(Hits) pill 2. Click Measure (Sum) 3. Select Maximum
11. Drag date to Color
12. 1. Click the down arrow on the right of the “Search Category” measure 2. Select “Show Filter”
13. 1. Click the down arrow in the quick filter heading 2. Select “Single Value (list)”
14. 1. Click the down arrow in the quick filter heading 2. Deselect Show All Values 2. Select Customize
15. 1. Drag “Keyword” to the Columns shelf 2. Double click the Sheet 1 tab
16. Rename to “Google searches”
17. 1. Double click the title 2. Click Insert 3. Select “Search Category”
18. Observe the search trends for different search categories
